Epson DX7 vs I1600 – Which Printhead Should You Choose for Wall Printing?
Introduction
When starting a wall printing business, one of the most important decisions is choosing the right printhead. Today, we’ll compare two of the most popular models: Epson DX7 and I1600.
1. Price & Inclusions
The DX7 costs around $1,000, and the I1600 about $1,500. These prices include the full setup: printhead, control board, and software system — all tested and certified by Epson (we are the only officially authorized wall printer manufacturer in China).
2. Lifespan
- DX7: 6–12 months, up to 15 months with good maintenance
- I1600: 1–2 years under normal use
3. Print Quality
DX7 has 8 rows with 1,440 nozzles (4pl droplets), while I1600 has 4 rows of 400 nozzles each — total 1,600 (3.5pl droplets). Smaller droplets mean better detail and smoother gradients.
4. Speed & Configuration
- I1600: Dual-head setup (color + white), 33.8mm width, 50–70% faster
- DX7: Single-head, 6 channels, 24.5mm width
5. Print Distance
I1600 can print from up to 10mm; DX7 up to 5mm.
Conclusion
If budget is a concern, DX7 is still a great value. But for high-end results, I1600 is worth every penny.
